Chelsea and Leicester City have both been fined £22,500 for the stoppage-time scuffle between the clubs' players that took place at Stamford Bridge last month.
As the Blues' 2-1 victory over the Foxes drew to a close, a foul from Ricardo Pereira on Ben Chilwell resulted in both sets of players becoming embroiled in a scrap on the touchline.
There was, in truth, nothing dramatic to the incident. The most noteworthy moment was the anger aimed towards Daniel Amartey, a Leicester substitute, who had days early disrespected Chelsea by throwing the club's pennant to the floor after Leicester had won the FA Cup.
Thomas Tuchel was quick to play down the melee after the game but reports came out days later that Chelsea could be hit with a points deduction due to repeated offences of failing to control their players.
Such a punishment was never likely, football.london understands. And today the FA have released a statement confirming both clubs have been hit with a fine and nothing more
The statement read: "Chelsea FC and Leicester City FC have been fined £22,500 each after admitting a breach of FA Rule E20.1 following their Premier League fixture on Tuesday, 18 May 2021.
"Both clubs admitted that they failed to ensure their players and club officials conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and refrained from provocative behaviour during the 93rd minute of the fixture."
Chelsea's win over Brendan Rodgers' side that night at Stamford Bridge, which was played in front of 8,000 Blues supporters, proved to be vital in the race to finish in the Premier League top four.
It meant Tuchel's side went into the final day of the Premier League season knowing they would secure Champions League football by bettering Leicester City's result.
The Blues did that, although not how many expected. Chelsea suffered a disappointing defeat to Aston Villa but, fortunately, a Gareth Bale-inspired Tottenham Hotspur defeated Leicester 4-2 at the King Power.
The Foxes ended up fifth in the Premier League table and will compete in next season's Europa League.
Chelsea, meanwhile, finished fourth and will go into next season's Champions League as reigning champions after defeating Man City in Porto on Saturday.
