Chelsea 'demand £6.5m fee' for Olivier Giroud as striker 'agrees Inter Milan transfer'

Olivier Giroud is reportedly moving closer to completing a January move to Inter Milan, but is waiting for the Italian giants to match Chelsea's asking price.

The Frenchman, whose current contract expires in the summer, is set to leave Stamford Bridge this month after finding opportunities limited this season.

Inter boss Antonio Conte is known to be keen on a reunion with the striker, who he managed during his time with the Blues, and The Mail reports that the 33-year-old has already agreed personal terms with the Serie A side.

However, it is claimed that the Italian giants are still yet to meet Chelsea's asking price for the World Cup winner.

According to the publication, the Premier League club are holding out for at least £6.5million while Inter want to try and finalise the move for around £4.5m.

Giroud has scored 19 goals in 70 appearances for Chelsea since making an £18m transfer from London rivals Arsenal in January 2018.

He won the FA Cup in his first season at Stamford Bridge and played a significant role in his side's Europa League triumph the following year, finishing as the tournament's top scorer with 11 goals.

However, he has fallen out of favour during the current campaign following the arrival of current boss Frank Lampard and the emergence of the Tammy Abraham.

The France international has been limited to just seven appearances in all competitions this term and Lampard has admitted that he will be allowed to leave the club under the right circumstances

Lampard said last week: "With Ollie the situation is, if it's right for everybody, and first and foremost that's us as the club, then we'll look at whether he can leave the club.

"He's been a great professional here, who has continued to train professionally without many opportunities. But I still have to make a decision for the football club, and nothing's done yet.

"Everyone's talking about it so I'm not going to beat around the bush. I think his agent has spoken to the club, but until anything's done he's a Chelsea player."
