Chelsea defender Reece James sends Blues teammates message ahead of Liverpool clash

Chelsea defender Reece James has urged his teammates to not get ahead of themselves after their fast start to the Premier League season.

The 21-year-old got on the scoresheet in the Blues’ 2-0 win over Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday, slotting the second goal with aplomb after a thumping shot eased past Bernd Leno into the top corner.

Thomas Tuchel’s team have delivered silverware to Stamford Bridge in the shape of the Champions League and UEFA Super Cup in recent months and following the marquee transfer of club record signing Romelu Lukaku in August, Chelsea now look like a team capable of winning the Premier League title this season.

However, as James has reiterated, things can quickly change, so the Blues need to be ready for every opponent they face, starting with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool this weekend.

“Liverpool have been up there at the top of the Premier League for the last few seasons so we know going there will be a very tough game,” James told Chelsea’s official website.

“We need to prepare right and bring the same intensity as today into that game but our team is very strong.”

“I wouldn’t say there’s any pressure on us right now. We have to take it game by game but obviously our aim is to win every week.

“Everybody here is ambitious and wants to win the title but we just have to take things slowly right now.”

The Merseyside outfit have also started the season well as a result of wins against Norwich and Burnley respectively, but Tuchel will be confident that his team can get another three points which will be an added boost going into the international break.
