Chelsea defender Emerson brands reports he is unhappy under 'controlling' Frank Lampard 'fake news'

Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri has rubbished suggestions he is unhappy with Frank Lampard’s management, accusing the Italian press of spreading “fake news”.

Newspaper Tuttosport claimed the 25-year-old wanted out of Stamford Bridge because of Lampard’s dictatorial style, suggesting the former England man was too controlling as a boss.

Emerson has been out of favour under Lampard, not featuring in any of the last five league games prior to the coronavirus shutdown, and the Blues are known to be interested in signing a new left-back this summer, having been heavily linked with Porto’s Alex Telles in recent days.

Despite that, however, Emerson was quick to dismiss the reports, writing on Instagram: "The world is going through a really difficult moment and there are journalists who want to spread fake news around to have content.

"I don’t speak too much, but here is my only and last statement regarding this news.

"I never said that and I think definitely the opposite of what was mentioned (without my knowledge). Respect and gratitude always. Enjoy your family."
