Chelsea confirmed team vs Wolves: Christian Pulisic starts as Kai Havertz changes role

Christian Pulisic returns to Chelsea's starting XI for tonight's Premier League game away to Wolverhampton Wanderers as Frank Lampard makes only one change from the team that lost 1-0 at Everton on Saturday evening.

The American missed the past two games because of "an awareness" in the hamstring that has troubled him since the latter stages of last season but, with Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi also out with hamstring injuries, the head coach has returned the former Borussia Dortmund player to his starting XI.

The rest of the side that started at Goodison Park remains the same with Kai Havertz returning to midfield. Mateo Kovacic drops to the bench.

Speaking ahead of the game, Lampard said Pulisic was in the squad but was unsure if the American would be fit enough to start after he missed the trip to Goodison Park because of "an awareness" in his hamstring.

"He trained on the day we played against Everton and he felt better so he is in the squad for tomorrow," Lampard said. "It is yet to be decided whether he starts or not but it is positive news from where it was at the weekend."

Nuno Santo's Wolves, who have won just one of their past five, are without striker Raul Jimenez because of a fractured skull, while Joao Moutinho is suspended after being sent off late in the weekend defeat at home to Aston Villa.

Chelsea: Edouard Mendy; Reece James, Kurt Zouma, Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell; Mateo Kovacic, N'Golo Kante, Mason Mount; Christian Pulisic, Olivier Giroud, Timo Werner.

Substitutes: Kepa, Toni Rudiger, Cesar Azpilicueta, Billy Gilmour, Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic, Tammy Abraham.
