Chelsea confirm UEFA Super Cup squad as changes made and Romelu Lukaku decision taken

Chelsea have confirmed their squad for tomorrow's UEFA Super Cup clash against Villarreal in Belfast – and Romelu Lukaku has not been included.

There was hope at the weekend the Blues would be able to complete the Belgian's signing from Inter Milan and that he would have time to train with his new teammates before they travelled out to Northern Ireland.

However, Lukaku's return to Stamford Bridge has yet to be officially confirmed and, as a result, he will not be included in Thomas Tuchel's squad for tomorrow's game.

A group of 24 players has travelled out to Belfast for the game, and Chelsea have made changes to the initial squad submitted to UEFA on Saturday.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Trevoh Chalobah – who is expected to leave Chelsea on loan before the transfer window closes – have both been added to the squad.

Three players have dropped out, however. Armando Broja was on the initial list but has been removed after he completed a season-long loan move to Southampton this morning.

The inclusions of Loftus-Cheek and Chalobah, meanwhile, have resulted in Tino Anjorin and Ethan Ampadu being taken out from the squad.

Several other players who have spent pre-season with the first-team squad, such as Malang Sarr, Davide Zappacosta, Ross Barkley and Michy Batshuayi, have been left at home.

The travelling group will train at Windsor Park this afternoon and Tuchel and two players will be speaking to the press at around 4.30pm. We will have live coverage of all three press conferences on the football.london website.
