Chelsea confirm Super Cup squad vs Liverpool as two key players return and one misses out

Chelsea have confirmed their squad to take on Liverpool in Wednesday's UEFA Super Cup in Istanbul.

The Blues go into the game on the back of Sunday's 4-0 drubbing at Manchester United in Frank Lampard's first Premier League game in charge of Chelsea and they will be looking to bounce back in style against the Reds.

However, it's going to be a hard test for the team with Liverpool starting the new season with a 4-1 victory over Norwich City at Anfield on Friday evening.

With Jurgen Klopp announcing his squad for the game on Tuesday morning, Chelsea have now confirmed their travelling party for the game against the Champions League holders.

The good news for the Blues is that Antonio Rudiger is back in the squad for the first time since going under the knife at the end of last season.

The German defender hobbled off at Old Trafford back in April due to a meniscus injury and he has spent the summer at Cobham trying to get back to fitness.

Lampard: 'A harsh lesson for my young team today'

Rudiger's return will be a welcome boost after the departure of David Luiz to Arsenal on transfer deadline day and the fact that the team shipped four goals against the Red Devils.

Willian is also back in the Chelsea squad for the first time this season after picking up a knee injury while on international duty for Brazil at the Copa America this summer.

While there's a place for the both players in the 23-man squad for the game in Turkey, Tiemoue Bakayoko is once again absent with his Chelsea future looking in serious doubt.

Spending last season on loan at AC Milan, the Frenchman could once again depart the club this summer with the transfer windows for the majority of European countries still open for business.
