Chelsea are confident no charge will be brought against José Mourinho by the Football Association over his conduct towards the team doctor Eva Carneiro. The governing body has received a complaint alleging that the manager used abusive, sexist language towards her.
The complaint is said to allege Mourinho called Carneiro “filha da puta” on the touchline of the match at Stamford Bridge against Swansea, which the Portuguese denies. According to the Daily Mail, the complainant likens that to describing the doctor as the daughter of a whore.
Chelsea back their manager’s insistence that he did not use those words but said “filho da puta”, or “son of a bitch”, an exclamation in anger after Eden Hazard went down in the third minute of stoppage time and Carneiro and the first-team physiotherapist, Jon Fearn, ran on to treat him.
“The FA has received an inquiry relating to an alleged incident during the Premier League fixture between Swansea v Chelsea on 8 August, and will make no further comment at this time,” read a statement from the governing body, apparently unaware of the venue.
