Chelsea confident of Kai Havertz transfer and set future plans to back Frank Lampard

Chelsea are closing in on a deal for Kai Havertz this summer.

The Blues have already brought in Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech ahead of the 2020/21 campaign, and the Germany international is set to join the ranks.

The 21-year-old has been one of the most exciting talents over the course of the past few Bundesliga seasons, and Frank Lampard is looking to rebuild his squad.

Willian and Pedro are set to leave at the end of the season, while Michy Batshuayi is also one of the players expected to be sold.

Lampard on the comparisons between Pulisic and Hazard

Havertz has netted 29 Bundesliga goals over the past two seasons, and Lampard wants to add him to his ranks.

According to reports in Germany, Havertz has handed in a transfer request to Bayer Leverkusen in order to make the move to the Premier League happen.

The Blues are now the front runners for the transfer, with Real Madrid ruling themselves out for this summer and Bayern Munich splashing the cash on Leroy Sane.

Once the Premier League campaign is done, the Blues are expected to make their final move for the forward and aim to complete the transfer.

The fee is set to cost the Blues in the region of €80million, however Chelsea are looking to bring down the fee if possible.

The Blues are believed to be getting closer to the deal getting done and Havertz becoming the third big signing ahead of next season.

After the deal for Havertz goes through, then the Blues are set to shift their focus to defence, with Chelsea having conceded 54 goals in the Premier League campaign.

Conversations will still be ongoing over the future of Kepa Arrizabalaga, with the Blues looking at potential options to replace the Spaniard.
