Chelsea confident of Jadon Sancho signing, Leicester move for Rugani - European transfer rumours

The New Year is almost here, clubs across Europe will be getting ready to do some business in the January transfer window.

With plenty to decide across the continent’s leagues, as well as the small matter of the Champions League and Europa League, in the second half of the season, plenty of cash looks set to be splashed ahead of a crucial period.

Here is the latest transfer news, rumours and gossip from across Europe involving Premier League sides.

Pogba dealt Madrid blow

Real Madrid have told Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba they are not interested in signing him during the January transfer window, according to Marca .

The World Cup winner has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford, with the Bernabeu seemingly the 26-year-old’s preferred option.

But Madrid have reportedly told Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola that they won’t be looking to sign the Frenchman in the New Year, with the club looking to make up 200m euros after a summer of spending.

Chelsea confident of landing Sancho

Chelsea are confident they can beat Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester United to the signature of Jadon Sancho, according to talkSport .

Sancho has been linked with a move away from Borussia Dortmund during the January transfer window, with United and Liverpool among some of the sides thought to be in the running.

But, with their transfer ban lifted and £150m to spend, Chelsea reportedly believe they can win the race to sign the 19-year-old England international.

Arsenal in race for Mertens

Arsenal are one of three sides ready to compete for the signing of Napoli forward Dries Mertens, according to Calciomercato .

The Belgium international is in the final year of his contract with the Serie A club, and new deal is looking increasingly unlikely.

The Gunners are interested in signing Mertens in January, although they will face competition from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund for his signature.

Leicester ponder move for Juventus defender

Leicester City are weighing up a move for Juventus defender Daniele Rugani as Brendan Rodgers looks for competition at centre-back, The Telegraph reports .

The Foxes have asked about Rugani and team-mate Merih Demiral, with neither featuring in Maurizio Sarri’s plans.

They will be considering a move for one of the defenders, although will face competition from some of their Premier League rivals when they become available.
