Chelsea coach Maurizio Sarri wants more from Alvaro Morata after brace against Crystal Palace

Maurizio Sarri admits Alvaro Morata is a "little bit fragile" mentally, but praised the Chelsea striker's improvement over the past month.

The Spaniard scored twice to inspire Chelsea to a 3-1 Premier League win over city rivals Crystal Palace on Sunday, which maintains the Blues' unbeaten start to the season.

The brace takes Morata's goals tally to five in the Premier League — six in all competitions — this season which Sarri believes is down to an increase in confidence.

Speaking to reporters after the win over Palace, Sarri said: "Alvaro improved the last month. Improved for the confidence, improved for the personality, improved also from the technical point of view.

"Now he's able to play more with the team, I think. But I think, also, that Alvaro has a very great physical and technical potential, so I think he can improve more."

When then asked whether Morata shares physical attributes with Chelsea's legendary striker Didier Drogba, Sarri replied: "Physically, no. But Drogba was one of the best in the world for 15 years. But Alvaro is very fast.

"[He's] not in the first two or three steps, but if he has to run for 40 metres he's very fast. He's strong, so not like Drogba. He has great potential."

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero is currently tied with Eden Hazard as the Premier League's top scorer with seven goals while Tottenham forward Harry Kane has six this term.

But when asked if Morata can challenge Aguero and Kane in terms of goalscoring form, Sarri replied: "I don't know. But for Alvaro, the goal has to be a consequence.

"He has to play for the team, with his mates, without thinking about goals. Goals are usually consequence of teamwork.

"He's a little bit fragile. From the mental point of view. But he's very young. I think he can improve, improve very fast."
