Chelsea close to receiving cash injection to help fund Frank Lampard's dream summer transfers

AC Milan are reportedly closing in on a deal for Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.

According to Sky in Italy, there have been positive talks between the two clubs over another season-long loan deal for the Frenchman, but with an option to buy next summer.

In addition, the report states that Bakayoko - who spent the 2018/19 campaign with the Rossoneri - wants to return to the San Siro and has already agreed personal terms with the Serie A giants.

Earlier in the month, Bakayoko broke his silence amid talk of rejoining Milan and did not rule out the prospect of a return during the summer transfer window.

"Everyone knows that Milan is in my heart and I have good memories," he told Tutto Mercato.

"At the moment I'm a Chelsea player, then we'll see in football."

Based on previous reports, Chelsea could demand a €3million (£2.7m) loan fee for Bakayoko.

Meanwhile, Sky in Italy claim that Milan would have the option to buy the midfielder permanently for €30million (£27m) at the end of his loan spell.

Having already sealed deals for striker Timo Werner and playmaker Hakim Ziyech, the Blues could use the cash injection from Bakayoko's departure to help fund more transfer activity.

Ben Chilwell's £50m move from Leicester City could be announced as early as next week, while the Blues continue to be linked with a big-money deal for Bayer Leverkusen wonderkid Kai Havertz.

However, the Bundesliga outfit's sporting director Rudi Voller has denied reports that there has been no progress in regards to negotiations for the Germany international.

"There is nothing new in this regard, and we are still very relaxed about it,” Voller told German publication Sport Buzzer. "Of course, we would be very happy if he stayed for another year.

"It is clear that the departure of such a player, despite the high transfer fee, always means a loss - see Leipzig and (Timo) Werner.

"In times of corona, it may actually be that the transfer fees have decreased for many players.

"But corona or corona - this is not the case with exceptional players like Havertz or Jadon Sancho. There is no corona discount for them.

"What makes Kai Havertz so interesting is the fact that he embodies world-class in four or five positions."
