Chelsea close in on Havertz deal, Everton eye Rodriguez - Premier League transfer rumours

The Premier League season is inching closer with less than two weeks to go until the big kick-off.

Clubs up and down the top tier are now racing to get deals done ahead of the new campaign, though some have been a lot busier than others.

Chelsea have dominated the headlines during the transfer window so far with Frank Lampard looking to overhaul his squad, but others are beginning to catch up, with Manchester United looking like making their first signing in the shape Donny Van de Beek.

Leeds United, meanwhile, have been busy recently, wrapping up deals for Rodrigo and Robin Koch.

So, what’s the latest from the rumour mill? Who can we expect to announce a deal in the coming days and weeks?

With that in mind, here is the very latest transfer rumours from across the Premier League.

Everton close in on Rodriguez

Everton are closing in on the signing of Colombian superstar James Rodriguez.

According to Sky Sports, Rodriguez could agree to join the Toffees by Wednesday.

Everton and Real Madrid haven’t yet struck a deal, according to the report, but an agreement is said to be close and the Colombia international is said to be keen to work with Carlo Ancelotti again.

Rodriguez, who earns around £200,000 per week, is surplus to requirements at Real.

Chelsea close in on Havertz

Chelsea appear to be close to pulling off a club-record deal for Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz worth an initial £72m, potentially rising to £86m.

Leverkusen manager Peter Bosz has confirmed Havertz will no longer train with the club ahead of a possible move.

"Volland and the national players didn’t participate today,” he said in a press conference.

“Bailey also wasn’t there. Unfortunately our squad isn’t set yet.

“I don’t expect Volland and Havertz to train with us again. It’s possible more players will transfer. We definitely still have to add some players.”

West Brom eye Deeney

Watford are in talks with West Brom over the sale of striker and captain Troy Deeney.

According to the Daily Mail, talks are already ongoing with the 32-year-old set to return to the Premier League and indeed Birmingham having grown up there.

Deeney has been with Watford since 2010, making more than 400 appearances.

A departure now looks likely, but just how much the deal is worth is unclear at this point
