The 20-year-old has long been seen as the future face of football in the USA, and by securing his signature the Blues could hold a major advantage over their rivals in one of the richest markets in the world.
"The surveys tell us we're very strong on both coasts," said Buck on Chelsea's presence in America, as reported by AS. "We have some work to do in the middle, but in round terms I think we're doing as well as any other big club.
"He's a personable boy well-linked in his country, so of course I would expect and think he will be helpful when we come here and play some friendly matches, which is what our objective is for the summer."
