Chelsea can save £25m on Anthony Gordon transfer and repeat Mykhailo Mudryk trick with Newcastle

Chelsea's latest move regarding Anthony Gordon could result in a number of positive outcomes for the Blues as they attempt to balance the books after a £488million spend in the last six months. 15 players have been signed under the Todd Boehly regime with minimal monetary departures in that timeframe which looks likely to change in 2023.

Following significant recruitment, a number of Chelsea stars have their futures in west London up in the air. Five attackers joining recently, along with the proposed arrival of Christopher Nkunku at the start of next season, means that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Christian Pulisic, Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech could all be set for an exit.

The latter has put in a number of impressive performances in the last few games, providing the assist for Kai Havertz's goal against Crystal Palace and being a constant danger in the Blues last Premier League outing against Liverpool.

Those displays, along with a superb World Cup campaign for Morocco, have seen Everton, Newcastle and Tottenham all register an interest and he has since taken to social media to hint that he could be on the move. "The best way to predict your future…is to create it", read the caption on his latest Instagram post.

Interest from Everton is particularly intriguing as the club are certainly after an attacker following a last-minute hijack from Spurs on Arnaut Danjuma, who appeared about to sign for the Toffees. As for departures, Anthony Gordon, who has missed the last three days of training with the most recent two unexplained absences, continues to be linked with an exit from Goodison Park with Chelsea and Newcastle interested.

The Magpies have entered talks for the 21-year-old, although Everton are demanding £60million, which may mean Eddie Howe looks elsewhere. A package in the region of £25million plus £15million in add-ons could see an agreement reached, but the Blues may have an advantage over Newcastle.

If Chelsea's interest in Gordon is serious, they could use Ziyech as a way of saving a significant amount of money in a deal for the Everton academy graduate. According to Sky Sports, an offer worth £25million from Merseyside has been suggested for Ziyech and Chelsea are considering allowing him to depart the club.

Newcastle have also registered an interest in Ziyech but it would likely only be on loan. While Graham Potter sanctioning a temporary move for Ziyech would give Chelsea a free run at Gordon, Everton's intention of agreeing a permanent deal for the former Ajax man benefits Chelsea financially and it would give room for the club to purchase Gordon.
