Why Man Utd have major interest in Chelsea vs Liverpool FA Cup Final

Manchester United will have a keen interest in what happens at Wembley Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Chelsea take on Liverpool in the FA Cup final with the trophy their only hope of silverware this season. Liverpool, however, are looking to add a second trophy to their collection for the season, having won the Carabao Cup already this year, coincidentally beating Chelsea in the final.

So the Reds are looking to make it two from two against the Blues in finals this season. And there could be more to come too. Liverpool go into Saturday's final knowing that they still stand a chance of winning a historic quadruple this season. Jurgen Klopp's side are in the final of the Champions League and are still in with a shot of the Premier League title.

A 1-1 draw with Tottenham last weekend allowed Manchester City to stretch their lead at the top of the Premier League to three points, meaning they now need just four more to secure their fourth title in five years. But tricky clashes with West Ham and Aston Villa await and Liverpool will be watching on with the hope of a slip-up.

The Carabao Cup has already been secured after a dramatic penalty shootout win against Chelsea. After Thomas Tuchel was beaten in last season's FA Cup final as well he will have added incentive to get one over on his compatriot at the home of English football. But while there remains a chance of a quadruple, Klopp himself is pessimistic.

“I’m not happy, but not as sad as the players are right now and it is my job to explain why something happens like this,” Klopp told BBC Sport after the clash with Tottenham. "Harry Kane and Heung-min Son were completely rested, that is why it is so hard. That is why the quadruple is so unlikely, there is a reason nobody has done it in this country. We will keep going.

"I would love to sit here and say City will drop points but I can’t see it. I wish I would think differently about it but I can’t see it. But we will see what happens.”

But dreams of four trophies could be over before the league is even decided. Chelsea have rediscovered their form in recent weeks and a win against Liverpool would not only secure the fourth trophy of Tuchel's spell, it would scupper the Reds chances of making history and bettering Manchester United's 1998-99 side.

Led by Sir Alex Ferguson, the Red Devils secured the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League in one season, still the only team to do so since the introduction of the new-look top-flight. United fans will be desperate to see that remain the case and not have it bettered by one of their arch rivals.
