Chelsea can complete double swoop for Atletico Madrid stars as Todd Boehly plans striker signing

Chelsea look set to dip into the transfer market for a new striker signing in January. Armando Broja's season is over after he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament during a friendly against Aston Villa.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Kai Havertz have both struggled for form in front of goal this season meaning Graham Potter has a problem on his hands. Todd Boehly was always set to back Potter with new signings in January, but now a new striker has emerged as a priority after Broja's injury.

The Blues have been scouting Atletico Madrid star Joao Felix this season but interest in the Portuguese forward remains tentative at this stage, football.london understands. Felix's teammate, Matheus Cunha, has been heavily linked with a move to Premier League rivals Wolves, but Chelsea could look to hijack a deal after being offered the chance to sign the Brazilian.

Atleti CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin commented on Felix's future at the club and refused to rule out an exit for the 23-year-old. Speaking to AS, the Atleti chief said: "He is the biggest transfer that the club has made.

"I think he can play at the highest level in the world, but for reasons that are not worth saying now, the relationship between the coach and him is not good. Neither is his motivation."

According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea have been offered the chance to make a double swoop for Felix and Cunha. The report claims that Felix could be brought in on an initial loan deal with Atletico manager Diego Simeone having fallen out with the Portuguese forward, now allowing him to leave the club.

Cunha is capable of playing out wide with Felix more suited to a central role, giving Graham Potter the chance to completely transform Chelsea’s attack. football.london understands Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku next summer, so signing the Atletico Madrid pair could be classed as overkill.

However, given the form of Havertz and Aubameyang, Potter may feel that an overhaul in attack is needed to give the Blues the best chance of securing Champions League football next season.
