Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel sends Trevoh Chalobah message amid Jules Kounde transfer links

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has sent a message to starlet Trevoh Chalobah amid transfer links to Sevilla centre-half Jules Kounde.

The German has been impressed by Chalobah's showings in pre-season and handed the 22-year-old his first-ever Premier League start on Saturday as the west Londoners triumphed over Crystal Palace 3-0.

The former England-Under 21 international impressed throughout his English top-flight debut, showing defensive poise and intelligence to help his side keep a clean sheet whilst also scoring a stunning long-range effort before the hour mark.

Despite Chalobah's solid display, the Blues continue to be linked with the aforementioned Kounde, who has garnered considerable interest from a host of Europe's elite clubs after enjoying a productive 2020/21 campaign for the Spanish outfit.

Now, Tuchel has sent a message to Chalobah, claiming that the west London club will always try to combine home-grown talents with the best players from abroad.

“It has to be special and it always, for me, needs to stay like this", he told Chelsea TV.

"Of course, we’re looking for the best in the world, for example when we buy Romelu Lukaku. Of course, we look for the best talents in the world when we buy Kai Havertz and they are fantastic players from abroad.

"We have some of the best players in the world in our squad and still there are places for guys from the academy. In the end, he plays alongside Reece James and Mason Mount, this is how it has to be.

"I love it, the spectators love it. This is how it should be that we have a good mix and they still have a place to fight their way through.

"This is what Chelsea academy stands for, for top quality. And we will never stop pushing."
