Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani has proved Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel right.
Cavani and Tuchel worked together at Paris Saint-Germain before the former left at the expiration of his contract at the end of the season ahead of Tuchel's sacking in December of last year.
Cavani has since gone on to join Manchester United, signing a one-year deal and impressing to help Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men to second in the Premier League, also reaching the Europa League final.
The Uruguayan has scored 15 times in 35 appearances across all competitions, and that has been enough to bag him a new deal at Old Trafford.
United and Cavani agreed a one-year extension today to keep the experienced frontman in place for next season, and it is clear, in the wake of the contract news, that Chelsea boss Tuchel has been proven right.
Tuchel said of Cavani earlier this season: "They (United) have got a great personality, like with many of the biggest players of the game," said Tuchel. "It's the same with Edi [Cavani].
"Very polite, almost a bit shy. Hard, hard worker. He will be there in every training (session) first minute until last minute.
"Every game from first second until last second. You can totally rely on him.
"He's living for goals, living for scoring. When he scores, when he has the confidence, he's one of the (best) number nines in world football.
"Hopefully he will show (that), he can start to convince all of you. I have nothing against that."
Cavani is now 34 years of age, but he has shown he can still cut it at the top with three goals in his last four Premier League appearances.
