Tuchel's Ramos solution
Thomas Tuchel is determined to find a way to cope with Sergio Ramos on Wednesday should the Real Madrid defender return.
"If we play with no striker at all and Ramos has nothing to fight then that can also be a solution. I have not made my mind up yet,” he told Chelsea’s official website.
"It’s another challenge because he is the leader of their group and he is the guy to give a lot of solutions to any questions that we will hopefully ask them.
“We will wait and see who is in good shape and good form, what shape we play and where we try to hurt them.
"I’m not too sure if they will play again with five or go back to four [in defence] so there are many questions, but we don’t need the answers now. It’s enough if we have them on Wednesday."
Real Madrid injury blow
Real Madrid have suffered a huge injury blow ahead of the second leg of the Champions League semi-final against Chelsea with centre-back Raphael Varane ruled out of the game.
The 28-year-old felt pain in his right leg during the first half of Los Blancos' 2-0 win over Osasuna on Saturday and was replaced at the interval by Nacho.
Varane underwent a scan on Sunday and it revealed an abductor injury that is expected to keep him out for around ten days, which will mean his misses the trip to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.
Madrid released a statement this afternoon that read: “After the tests carried out today on our player Raphael Varane by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he was diagnosed with an injury to the right abductor muscles.”
It's the second defensive blow Real Madrid have suffered since the first leg of the semi-final tie, which ended 1-1 in the Spanish capital.
On Thursday, it was revealed that right-back Dani Carvajal was set to miss the remainder of the campaign having suffered a hamstring injury in last Tuesday's clash against the Blues.
There is some good news for the La Liga giants, however. According to Spanish reporter Mario Cortegana, club captain Sergio Ramos and left-back Ferland Mendy are set to return for the second leg having sat our the first game between the two sides.
Fresh Haaland blow
Borussia Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke has made it clear that striker Erling Haaland will not be leaving the club this summer, insisting he will remain with the Bundesliga giants next season.
Haaland, who has been nothing short of outstanding for Dortmund this season, has been the subject of widespread transfer interest in recent weeks from a whole host of clubs right across Europe.
Amongst them are English trio Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United, as well as interest surfacing from both Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Considering Haaland has scored a whopping 37 goals in 38 games this season, it is no surprise to anybody that interest in his signature is rife.
Considering he is hitting the numbers that he is doing at the age of just 20-years-old, it is frightening to think just how good he could become in years that lie ahead.
Although a move away from the Westfalenstadion should not be ruled out in the long-term, an exit this summer now appears to be increasingly unlikely, with Watzke revealing that he has spoken with Mino Raiola - Haaland's agent - and that there are no concerns over his immediate future.
Speaking to Sport1, Watzke said: "I've known Raiola for a long time and get along well with him. It's no problem for us.
"Erling Haaland will remain a Borussia Dortmund player next year."
This news will be a major hammer-blow for Chelsea as they had set their sights on Haaland being their top target this summer.
