Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri sends message of understanding to Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has sent a message of understanding to Jurgen Klopp after Liverpool finished second in the Premier League with 97 points.

That total would have seen the Reds finish top in almost every season since the competition's 1992 rebrand .

However, Manchester City claimed the title after a run of 14 consecutive victories to finish with 98 points.

Sarri was in charge of a Napoli side who won 91 points last season, but still finished behind Serie A winners Juventus.

"Every match in England is difficult and so competitive because the Premier League is the best in the world," Sarri said.

Why there is no time for despair as Liverpool fans should follow Jurgen Klopp's lead

"Now I think of Jurgen Klopp. Because if you are able to gain 97 points in the Premier League without winning it is really very hard.

"I thought that I was unlucky in the last season because we arrived in second place with 91 and now I can understand very well the feeling of Klopp."
