Chelsea are getting a £26m Timo Werner bargain to call Liverpool transfer decision into question

Chelsea could be making a saving of more than £25million on prospective new signing Timo Werner according to a valuation of the player.

The Germany international is expected to make the move to Stamford Bridge this summer, with the Blues having reportedly met RB Leipzig’s £53million buy-out clause.

And according to the CIES Football Observatory transfer value list, Chelsea appear to have secured Werner at a bargain.

The list presents the 100 big-five league players (Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1) with the highest estimated transfer values, according to the CIES Football Observatory algorithm.

Werner features among the most valuable forwards in the world at €90.3million, or just over £79million.

The valuation will come as a huge boost to Frank Lampard and his team, but may be met with dismay by Liverpool, who passed on the opportunity to sign Werner despite the player seeming destined to move to Anfield.

Chelsea have other players who feature in the value list, most notably Mason Mount, who is ranked as the second most valuable midfielder in world football.

The 21-year-old is valued at €102.5million (around £91.5million), placing him second to only Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes (€104.9million/£93.6million) and ahead of Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong (€102.1million/£92.1million).

Jorginho also features in the most valuable midfielders at €65.9million (£58.8million), just behind former Tottenham star Christian Eriksen (€66million/£58.9million).

Blues goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is rated as the third most valuable stopper in the world at €76.4million (£68.1million), behind Manchester City’s Ederson (€86.8million/£77.4million) and Liverpool’s Alisson (€84.2million/£75.1million).
