Chelsea announce £25m deal as Erling Haaland drops major hint over future

Here is your Chelsea morning digest on Friday, June 18.

£25m Tomori deal confirmed

Chelsea made one of their first major moves of the transfer window on Thursday with Fikayo Tomori’s switch to AC Milan being confirmed.

The two clubs announced the transfer on Thursday afternoon, with the Serie A giants having paid £25m for the defender. Tomori has signed a four-year deal with Milan, having spent the second-half of last season on-loan at the San Siro.

Giroud agrees Milan deal

Giroud might not be the only Chelsea player to swap Stamford Bridge for the San Siro this summer.

French striker Olivier Giroud continues to be linked with a move to Italy despite confirmation of his new contract with the Blues.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, via Sempre Milan, Giroud has now agreed upon a two-year deal with Milan and he now has to convince his current employers to let him go.

Haaland drops major hint

The cash that Chelsea will receive in the case of Tomori, or indeed save if Giroud leaves, could well be used to finance a big-money swoop for Borussia Dortmund hitman Erling Haaland.

The Norwegian has long been linked with a transfer to Stamford Bridge and has now hinted that he could be tempted to leave Dortmund so that he isn’t in his 'comfort zone'.

He said: “I want to challenge myself in everything that I do. It’s something I think about. It’s also for everyone to always do this.”
