Chelsea and Thomas Tuchel handed Jorginho injury boost ahead of Leeds United clash

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has returned to training at Cobham ahead of Chelsea's clash with Leeds United on Wednesday. The Italian missed the Blues' draw against Wolves at Stamford Bridge after picking up an injury in the defeat to Everton at Goodison Park.

Thomas Tuchel's midfielder was forced off at half-time against Frank Lampard's side and was unable to ready himself in time to be involved against Wolves. The former Napoli star joined the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Mason Mount, Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger, Christian Pulisic and Timo Werner in training on Monday morning.

It is believed the Chelsea squad were called into training on Sunday at Cobham rather than being given their usual day off. Trevoh Chalobah and Malang Sarr were both involved with Chelsea's development squad as the u23 side defeated Tottenham 2-1 to ensure their Premier League 2 survival.

Jorginho played a pivotal role in Chelsea's last match against Leeds when he scored two penalties, including one in the 94th minute, to earn the Blues a 3-2 win, having been down to Raphinha's first-half penalty in west London.

Wednesday's match at Elland Road is crucial for both teams as Chelsea look to secure their place in the Champions League under pressure from Arsenal and Tottenham, while Leeds hopes to prevent relegation. The Whites sit in 18th position on goal difference behind Burnley and one point behind Everton. Jesse Marsch's team have a goal difference of 18 goals worse than the Clarets and has conceded 74 times this season, just one goal less than Norwich City.

Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ben Chilwell and N'Golo Kante were not among the figures shown in Chelsea's picture released from training.
