Chelsea and Marina Granovskaia warned about Man United hijacking £53m Timo Werner transfer

Chelsea have been warned to expect last-gasp interest in Timo Werner from Manchester United.

The Blues took a huge step closer to signing the RB Leipzig star yesterday when it was revealed they had agreed terms with the player.

Yet the deal has not been completed as of yet, and Ray Parlour says he expects Manchester United to show some interest in Werner as they look for a striker themselves.

Indeed, the Arsenal legend claimed that this could well be Werner's agent's way of working the market in an attempt to garner more interest in the player.

Parlour told talkSPORT: "I’m amazed that Man United are not in for Werner.

"They’ve got money and probably do need another striker; Marcus Rashford can play wide if you need him to off the flank.

"I’m sure Manchester United might make a last-minute pop for Werner as well.

"I think the agent is trying to work the market now; that is how they work, putting it out there that the deal is nearly done and alerting other clubs so they have to pull their finger out.

"'If we really want this player then we’ve got to up the money and up the wages’, and suddenly it could be a different factor for Chelsea."
