Chelsea and Marina Granovskaia have already been told how much it will cost to sign Jan Oblak

Chelsea already have the most expensive goalkeeper in their ranks, and they will have to smash their own record in order to sign a replacement.

It's shaping up to be an exciting summer transfer window for the Blues as head coach Frank Lampard looks to build a squad capable of closing the gap on Liverpool and Manchester City.

Deals for Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner were officially completed at the beginning of the month, while Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell and Bayer Leverkusen's Kai Havertz remain key targets.

But having seen his side struggle defensively, it would appear that Lampard is keen to address the goalkeeping department as Kepa Arrizabalaga is yet to convince he is the answer.

As a result, Atletico Madrid's Jan Oblak has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

In fact, German Burgos, Diego Simeone's outgoing assistant manager, has openly talked about Chelsea's interest in Oblak without being questioned on it.

"If I only quote one who I would take with me from Atletico de Madrid, it would be bad, I have to name them all," he told Marca.

"Look, the Russian (Roman Abramovich) wants to take Oblak."

With that said, any deal taking Oblak to Chelsea will be an expensive one for owner Roman Abramovich and club director Marina Granovskaia.

The former Benfica stopper signed a new contract at the Wanda Metropolitano last summer, and still has another three years remaining on his deal.

"I'm very happy to have signed a contract extension and to be here," he told the club's official website. "I'm going to defend these colours to the best of my abilities and continue working hard."

In committing his future to the club, Oblak's release clause has risen from €100m to €120m which translates to roughly about £103m and that doesn't quite put him out of reach for potential suitors

Chelsea have already shown money isn't a problem as they splashed out £71.5m on Kepa in the summer of 2018 to make him the most expensive goalkeeper in the world.

Will the Blues smash their own record in order to solve a problem position?
