Chelsea have been given a potential boost in any pursuit of Jadon Sancho after learning that Borussia Dortmund have reportedly shaved £30million off his transfer fee.
The report comes in the wake of Sancho himself admitting that he is unsure what the future holds as a summer of speculation once again looks on the cards. If Chelsea were keen to bring Sancho in, however, they must act fast as Manchester United have made the forward their number one transfer target, according to the Daily Star.
Dortmund were unwilling to sell Sancho last summer, and put a huge £108m price-tag on him, a fee no club was willing to match at the time. However, according to Goal, the English winger will be allowed to explore his options this time around if certain conditions are met.
Michael Zorc, the club’s Sporting Director, recently told ARD that there is a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ in place with Sancho, and Goal report that the agreement is that Dortmund would be willing to let Sancho go for £78m.
Sancho has attracted a lot of attention since he broke into the Dortmund first team, particularly from Chelsea and Manchester United, who’ve both looked at ways to bring him back to the Premier League.
Interest in him did momentarily cool at the end of the last window, but now that the 21-year-old is willing to consider the next step in his career, it won’t be long until clubs are back in for him, especially after he admitted he doesn’t know what the future holds to ESPN at the weekend.
“I don’t know about my future,” he said.
“I am very happy here, I love the club, I love the fans. They’ve always supported me. They gave me my first professional start and I’m very grateful to them for having me here.”
Sancho’s hesitance is likely to initiate an imminent bidding war.
The Daily Star report that Chelsea face competition from United, who are determined to make the forward their major summer signing. They are preparing a bid to meet Dortmund's demands, and that could appeal to Sancho because he doesn't wish for another elongated transfer saga.
