Chelsea and Man United get Erling Haaland transfer boost as Borussia Dortmund stance is revealed

A monstrous €180million (£150m) bid will be enough to tempt Borussia Dortmund into selling Erling Haaland this summer.

That is according to ESPN FC amid interest from Chelsea, Manchester United as well as La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona in the 20-year-old who has scored 33 goals in just 31 appearances across all competitions this season - including 10 in the Champions League.

As Haaland's release clause of €75m (£64m) does not kick in until next summer, it would appear that Dortmund are ready to take advantage of growing interest in the striker.

This is a potential boost for the Blues, but only if they meet the Bundesliga outfit's asking price is met this summer.

With that said, the report states that as the transfer market will impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, Dortmund hope their £150m valuation will keep Haaland at the club for another year.

This development comes after Haaland's father, Alf Inge, previously stated how Chelsea could complete a deal for his son.

"You never know how it would go in other clubs," he said on German outlet Sport1 via the MEN. "It may well have been good, too, if we had chosen a different route. We’ll never get an answer to that.

"But we are very happy with the clubs he has been in.

"You have to go to a club where the whole club wants you, not just the coach.

"I think that’s the most important thing, in addition to how the club has been over the last five or ten years and what direction they’ve taken.

"Because it’s dangerous to just sign for a coach, because he can suddenly be sacked."

Whilst Chelsea do have a habit of sacking managers, the good news is that Haaland has ambitions of playing in the Premier League at some stage in his career.

"He was a Leeds fan and a City fan and a Nottingham Forest fan – he followed me obviously, but that is what you do in your youth," Erling's father told talkSPORT. "It is different being a supporter and having a job. But he was born in Leeds.

"At one stage he would like to play in the Premier League, but when that will happen, I don’t know. It is a very tough league.

"Up to now he is ahead of the stage we thought he would be at. He is built for the Premier League, but whether that will happen now or at a later stage, we don’t know."
