Chelsea already have ideal Sergio Ramos transfer alternative as another loan mooted

Chelsea signed two central defenders on free transfers from Ligue 1 clubs last summer.

The first was of course Thiago Silva from Paris Saint-Germain, who impressed greatly as the Blues lifted their second UEFA Champions League

However, some supporters will be forgiven for forgetting the other. Malang Sarr arrived from OGC Nice to some excitement with the 22-year-old Frenchman having developed into one of the most promising defenders in European football.

He was sent out on-loan to FC Porto last season and is now apparently being eyed by Turkish giants Fenerbahce according to Takvim.

With Chelsea linked strongly to Sergio Ramos, who is set to leave Real Madrid on a free transfer, the Blues should look to Sarr as a cheaper alternative.

Despite only playing 19 first-team games for Porto last season, Sarr would come back to Stamford Bridge hugely experienced. He had already accumulated 119 appearances for Nice so would hopefully take to the Premier League relatively well.

Whilst his experience simply does not compare to that of Ramos, the Spaniard having lifted four Champions League titles with Real Madrid, he has neither played in the Premier League.

Should Ramos arrive at Stamford Bridge, it is also likely that he would want to be an instant starter but with Thomas Tuchel having settled on a back three of Antonio Rudiger, Thiago Silva and Andreas Christensen, with Kurt Zouma in reserve, that would be tough to offer.

Meanwhile, having already signed Sarr, Chelsea would simply not have to offer any more to the Frenchman whether that be wages or otherwise.

Ramos though would more than likely demand a considerable pay packet alongside a more than a likely hefty signing-on fee.

It could well be argued that 35-year-old’s arrival at Stamford Bridge would echo that of Thiago Silva last season but Chelsea could turn to their other Ligue 1 recruit instead.
