Chelsea 4-0 Malmo: Jorginho penalties help Blues cruise to victory but Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner injured

Jorginho scored two penalties as Chelsea returned to winning ways in the Champions League with a comfortable 4-0 victory over Malmo.

Kai Havertz and Andreas Christensen were also on the scoresheet, but victory came at a price for the Blues, who lost both Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner to injury before half-time.

Having been beaten by Juventus in their second group game, Thomas Tuchel was taking no chances with his team selection, naming a strong side for the visit of the Swedish side, who remain bottom of Group H, without a point or even a goal in their three games.

Christensen set Tuchel’s men on their way to victory with a sharp finish inside ten minutes, the Dane scoring his first goal for the club on his 137th appearance.

Tuchel had hinted he may rest Lukaku but the Belgian was included from the off and started brightly, winning the penalty from which Jorginho made it two. However, the forward had left the field by the time Malmo restarted the game and hobbled straight down the tunnel with what appeared to be an ankle problem.

Havertz was his replacement and made it three two minutes into the second half with a delightful lifted finish, but by then Chelsea had also lost Werner as he limped off clutching a hamstring.

Antonio Rudiger embarked on one of his trademark forays forward to win a second penalty before the hour-mark and Jorginho once again made no mistake with a near-identical spot-kick.
