Chef Dan Doherty issues an apology amid claims he made sexual remarks towards staff

Sprouting something new: Dan Doherty

Leading London chef Dan Doherty has issued an apology after allegations he sexually harassed female staff at his Marylebone restaurant.

The TV chef, who is a judge on BBC1’s Britain’s Best Home Cook alongside Mary Berry, is alleged to have made sexual remarks towards female staff.

The 33-year-old took a leave of absence from gastropub The Royal Oak last November while an external firm conducted an investigation into the claims.

He is accused of fostering a culture of harassment at the venue since it opened last summer.

Mr Doherty reportedly said: “I am sorry for causing any distress.”

In a statement he added: “I would never intentionally make offensive comments to anyone I work with, female or male.

"I have apologised to the whole team for any offence I may have inadvertently caused. It would never be my intention.”
