Chef claims we're cooking roast potatoes wrong

A chef has claimed we're all cooking roast potatoes wrong by missing out a vital ingredient.

With Christmas just around the corner, many of us will be preparing potatoes for the big day.

And as we all know, a Christmas dinner is not complete without roast potatoes.

But according to chef influencer Eitan Bernath (@eitan) the simplest way to create the perfect roasties is by using a rather unusual ingredient - mayonnaise.

Rather controversially, Eitan cooks roast potatoes by slathering them with full-fat mayo, before adding seasoning, such as pepper, garlic, paprika and fresh parsley, before cooking them in the oven for 20 minutes, reports the Mirror.

He claims this cooking method creates roasties that are 'perfectly soft and pillowy on the inside, crunchy on the outside and full of flavour'.

It's a little bizarre, but given that the main ingredient of mayonnaise is oil, it does make a lot more sense when you think about it.

One TikTok user said: "I must say I judged at the beginning, didn't trust the process, but now you've got me like..." alongside the hungry emoji.

Another added: "People are forgetting what mayonnaise actually is, it 100 per cent makes sense."
