West Ham United fans were once quite smitten with Dimitri Payet but now it’s safe to say the supporters of the club can't take it when his name comes up.
Some blame him, while others are happy to let sleeping dogs lie. But one thing everyone can agree with is that Payet was sensational at times when he took the field.
Payet joined West Ham from Marseille in 2015 and quickly became a fans’ favourite thanks to a fantastic debut season which landed him the club’s Player of the Year award and an inclusion on the PFA Players’ Player of the Year shortlist.
But Payet left acrimoniously in January 2017 when he demanded a move back to Marseille just eleven months on from signing a new long-term contract.

The Frenchman turned 32 on Friday and the Hammers' social media team were keen to wish him happy birthday, with a video of his stunning solo strike against Middlesbrough in 2016.
But given how things ended between club and player, they may have been better off leaving the tweet alone, with fans quick to jump on and show their disgust for the former Hammer.
