The Prince of Wales erupted in cheers and celebrations as Aston Villa triumphed in the Europa League final on Wednesday, 20 May.

Prince William, patron of the Football Association and a lifelong Villa supporter, congratulated the club after their 3-0 victory over SC Freiburg in Istanbul, securing Aston Villa’s first European trophy in 44 years.

It marked Villa’s first major European final since William was born, their first silverware since the League Cup in 1996, and their first continental triumph since lifting the European Cup in 1982.

From tense moments to pure celebration, Prince William’s reactions said it all as Aston Villa lifted the trophy.
