Cheeky rival undercuts Amazon for its own Echo Dot device

The Amazon Echo Dot is part of the retailer's big early Black Friday sale.

The home technology device has been reduced to £29.99, down from £49.99, alongside a host of other Amazon technology including the Kid's Echo Dot, Fire Stick TV and Echo Show.

The deals are the cheapest some of the devices have been since Black Friday last year but one rival seller has cheekily reduced the price even further on Amazon's own product.

AO.com has reduced the price of a fourth generation Echo Dot by another 99p, bringing the price down to £29 and undercutting Amazon by less than a pound.

Other retailers such as Currys have also lowered the price of the Echo Dot to match those in the Amazon sale.

The unexpected Amazon devices sale launched this week and will last for seven days. Many of the prices are lower than those introduced for the summer Amazon Prime Day sale and are similar to discounts seen on Black Friday 2020.

It includes the previous third generation Echo Dot is down from £32 to £22, while Echo Dot bundles with Philips Hue bulbs are down by £25. Other deals include £15 off the Fire Stick TV 4K, £55 off the Fire HD 8 Kid's tablet, £40 off the Echo Show device and £30 off the Fire TV Cube.

Other brands such as Ring Doorbells are also included in the sale and an Echo Dot and Ring Doorbell bundle is now £45 off.

Amazon's Black Friday sale will take place on 26 November but discounts are expected to begin at least a week before the day itself.
