Liverpool fans have been reacting to the teaser tweet sent by the club about Ibrahima Konate.
The Reds have officially confirmed the signing of the centre-back from RB Leipzig, whose new deal starts from July 1.
A £36m release clause in the defender’s contract has been paid, and the 22-year-old will take part in the Under-21 European Championships with France before having a break and then linking up with Liverpool in pre-season.
Before Liverpool confirmed the news, the club posted a tweet of the Anfield tunnel with the ‘This is Anfield’ sign.
However, the picture also included a jacket which appears to have been staged to look like it is Konate with his back to the camera.
This is in reference to a post by Konate on his Instagram page on Monday night, which saw Reds fans respond with various messages saying ‘Welcome to Liverpool’.
In the image on his social media page, Konate was seen wearing a similar coat.
Leipzig themselves responded to the Tweet, with a short video of Konate taking part in a pitchside interview, before he starts laughing and runs away from view.
Liverpool fans also reacted to the tweet, which was sent a few minutes before the club confirmed the deal.
Here is a selection of what they had to say.
Harry: “Nice coat bro.”
Joe Moore : “I wonder who.....”
Ahmed: “IT’S HIM HE’S WEARING THE SAME JACKET.”
Mahdiyyah : “I see what you did there!”
Theedexterr: “Cheeky admin!”
Akki: “I told him he would need that jacket for Liverpool in winter.”
Anfield Insiders: “Great Photoshop skills by Liverpool.”
