Ched Evans leaves Sunderland's League One rivals Fleetwood Town

Fleetwood Town manager Joey Barton has revealed striker Ched Evans has left the club due to his 'discipline and behaviour'.

The Black Cats were linked with a move for the Welshman in the past after the departure of Josh Maja.

Former Sheffield United striker, Evans - who scored 48 goals and made 124 appearances over his two spells at Bramall Lane, left on loan for Fleetwood at the start of the 2018-19 season on loan, before making it a permanent switch.

The 31-year-old was not part of Fleetwood's squad that drew 1-1 with Wigan Athetic and it looked like he was getting his career back on track.

However, Barton said his time at Highbury Stadium is up.

Speaking to BBC Radio Lancashire following his side's 1-1 draw at home to Wigan, Barton said: "It would’ve helped if we’d have had Ched (Evans).

"He’s no longer with us and he’ll leave the building due to his discipline and his behaviour.

“There’s been multiple infractions and we always try to give a bit of leeway but it’s just run its course.”
