The Denver Broncos have agreed to sign cornerback De’Vante Bausby, who recorded four interceptions this spring (tied for the highest total in the Alliance of American Football).
Bausby (6-2, 190 pounds) entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Pittsburg State with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2015. He played high school football at Hogan Preparatory Academy in Kansas City, Missouri.
Here are highlights from his time in high school:
Bausby spent time bouncing back and forth between the practice squads of the Chiefs and Chicago Bears from 2015-2017. He recorded a preseason interception in 2017:
Bausby is yet to record a regular season interception in the NFL but he had four INTs in the AAF, including a “pick-2.”
He was one of the best ball-hawks in the Alliance before the league shut down operations.
Though he appears to be a talented player, Bausby won’t be guaranteed a spot on Denver’s 53-man roster. His competition at cornerback will include Chris Harris, Kareem Jackson, Bryce Callahan, Isaac Yiadom, Linden Stephens, Horace Richardson and Craig Mager.
The 26-year-old Bausby has recorded 26 tackles in the NFL.
