Check out these alternative Nottingham statue suggestions including 'Stuck on Tram Tracks' and '2am outside Rock City'

From Robin Hood to Brian Clough, Nottingham's statues are so famous to locals they are meeting points in their own right.

But what about the unsung 'heroes' of the city which for better or worse make residents feel just that little bit more at home?

The 3D team at Castle Marina-based video agency Fat Free Media has produced a parody video honouring the drunk, the daft and the downright legendary figures of the city entitled Alternative Nottingham Statues.

The video celebrates some of the more alternative local icons which deserve to be immortalised in bronze from antics outside Rock City in the early hours, to cars stuck on tram tracks.

Since going online the short film has been watched nearly 20,000 times online.

Fat Free Media is a collective of 10 animators and video creatives, all with a deep love for Nottingham. The team make branded content and commercials for brands like Toyota, Center Parcs, Capital One and the University of Nottingham in their studio on Castle Marina.

Head of creative Neil Rostance says: “I don’t think there’s a single person in Nottingham who can’t relate to one of these iconic, but under-celebrated moments in the city.

"We’ve all been that guy outside Rock City, we’ve all been stuck in traffic because of some idiot on the tram tracks.

"We thought it would be fun to immortalise them like Robin Hood. Our team of animators went out and shot some footage, modelled the statues and put this together in a few days between projects.”

“We think there are loads more moments like these that don’t get celebrated nearly enough. I know not everyone can get a statue, but at least we can have a go at seeing what they would look like if they did.”
