Check dates on red passports, holidaymakers warned

Holidaymakers heading abroad this summer have been urged to check their red passports to ensure they're valid before they travel. While a passport holder may have a few months left before it expires, this could scupper their chances of entering certain countries.

It's important to be aware of entry rules that apply to different countries - including passport validity rules, the Echo reports. Many countries have adopted a six-month validity passport rule, meaning a passport must be valid for six months before its holder’s departure.

According to VisaGuide.World there are 70 countries that have a six-month passport rule, while another 41 apply a three-month passport validity rule.
