Cheapest supermarket roast dinner unveiled out of Tesco, Aldi, Lidl, Sainsbury's, Asda and Morrisons

With Christmas on it's way, it's almost time to start planning one of the best parts of the day - the roast dinner.

A traditional roast is always a favourite, and now it has been revealed which supermarket offers the cheapest dinner out - and it's beaten Tesco, Lidl, Sainsbury's, Asda, Waitrose, Co-op and Morrisons.

Consumer finance experts at Cashlady.com have officially crowned the best place to get a full roast dinner of either chicken or beef.

Experts at CashLady.com compared the prices of the key ingredients including chicken, roast potatoes and carrots from nine leading supermarkets.

The findings were ranked in terms of how much they cost for both a chicken - with Aldi and Lidl taking the top spots.

If you're a fan of the classic roast chicken dinner, then Aldi is the best option for not breaking the bank, costing only £8.26, which beat out other popular supermarkets such as Tesco, Morrisons and Asda.

However, if roast beef is more to your taste, then Lidl just pips Aldi to the post at an overall cost of £9.33.

This won't come as a surprise for fans of the popular budget supermarket, as they are known for good quality food for prices that are much lower than the rest of the UK supermarkets.

Waitrose, M&S and Co-Op have been consistently found to rank in the most expensive places to buy your roast dinner, so, if you're looking to stick to a budget, then it's best to give them a miss.
