Cheapest properties in the North East in November included a Northumberland house for £15,000

The cheapest house sale in the whole country in November was a Northumberland terraced home.

East Lea, in Newbiggin-By-The-Sea, is home to the £15,000 terrace that sold on November 19, becoming the cheapest sale across England and Wales, according to the Land Registry.

While Kensington and Chelsea, in London, was the location of the most expensive sale (a £49.6m property), several North East homes appeared on the bottom ten list for the country, with houses in Sunderland and County Durham also selling at bargain basement prices.

Here, we take a look at some of the cheapest houses to change hands in our region in November:

The country's cheapest house sale that month, this three-bed terrace house might have appealed to investors or first-time buyers on a budget.

At auction this two-bedroom seaside property rose to £7,000 above its £10,000 guide price. Its buyer will have had to start on a full refurbishment, but could make a tidy profit.

This 3-bed freehold terraced house changed hands in what may have been a buy-to-let, a transfer to a company, or a repossession.

Set in a tree-lined row of terraces, this bargain home was snapped up in a former mining village close to the city of Durham.

This sale, which may have been a buy-to-let, a transfer to a company, or a repossession, took place just a few streets away from another of the month's cheapest sales, the £17,000 house on Barwick Street.

Sold for £20,000 on November 13

The freehold for this vacant two-bedroom terrace changed hands at auction.


Gurlish West, Coundon, Bishop Auckland

Sold for £20,000 on November 6

The buyer of this bargain property snapped up three bedrooms with an external yard, though the property was in need of some updating.
