Cheapest house for sale in Wales could be yours for £12k - but you'll have to love DIY

Those looking for a fixer-upper house in Wales could nab themselves a bargain at an online property auction.

An end of terrace house, located in Maerdy, Rhondda, is currently on the market for a guide price of £12,000, making it the cheapest house for sale in the country.

However, it could and most likely might, sell for a higher price, with the minimum bid is set at £8,000.

The future owner will have to be a big fan of DIY though, as the traditional valleys house is in need of a high level of work to renovate and modernise it, reports Wales Online.

Step inside the house and you'll see that all of the rooms are clear of any clutter, but most are also clear of any plaster on the walls.

The raw condition of the house will be handy for when a full rewiring and replumbing is commenced.

The house has a number of charming features, including a former brick fireplace which will look great once restored and a log burner added.

It comes with three downstairs rooms, a lounge, dining room and kitchen with a small bathroom at the back and a garden outside.

Meanwhile, upstairs, you'll find three bedrooms.

The only part of the home that doesn't require any work whatsoever is the incredible view - not another row of terraces, but a pretty hillside laden with trees.

Sean Roper, of Paul Fosh Auctions, says: "This is a traditional end of terrace property which requires full modernisation and this is reflected in the low guide price at auction of just £12,000.

"The house is situated in a well established residential location close to local amenities with wonderful views across the countryside and is close to the Heads of the Valleys trunk road (A465) and the Brecon Beacons National Park.

"The property could provide a great opportunity for a builder or an investor as it offers scope to refurbish and sell or for buy to let."

Bidding opens on the Paul Fosh Auctions' website at noon on Tuesday, April 27 and closes at 5.04pm on Thursday, April 29.
