Cheap nosh in Nottingham

Fashionably late to the party, Nottingham has only gone and got itself a food festival. It starts today, and features appearances from James Martin - is it me, or does he appear at virtually every festival in the UK? - and, perhaps more interestingly, Simon Rimmer and local hero, Sat Bains. Let's hope Sat, a famously forthright chef, can get through his demo without swearing the house down.

Anyway, to celebrate this launch, I've compiled a top 10 of Nottingham's best budget eateries, that's now up over on our Travel site. As ever with these guides, we want your help, too. Do you agree with my ten, which includes the likes of Iberico; French Living; Delilah Fine Foods, Larwood & Voce and Kayal?

More importantly, perhaps, what have you got to say about the places that I had on my shortlist, but which didn't make the final cut: the veggie Alley Cafe Bar; Gusto food hall and restaurant; the Wagamama-style Indian, Tamatanga; and Le Bistrot Pierre?

Outside of those, where would you point someone new to Nottingham? Heading out of the city-centre, what delis, cafes and bargain restaurant deals should we be looking out for? Has anyone been to the new Hungry Pumpkin cafe yet? And can anyone comment on whether or not I missed a doozy by swerving The Hemsley at the university?
