'Cheap coming from him': Rangers boss Steven Gerrard unhappy with Ryan Porteous after Tavernier comment

Steven Gerrard has hit out at Hibs defender Ryan Porteous for "cheap" comments made to Rangers captain James Tavernier.

Porteous and Tavernier exchanged words at full-time, and a number of Rangers players appeared to be unimpressed with the Hibs centre back.

Gerrard said: "I didn't see the incident initially.

"I think Porteous was saying that Tav's a bad loser which I think is a bit cheap coming from him.

"I think he got sent off for a real bad tackle when he was losing 3-0 here last year.

"So I didn't agree with that or the argument but it is what it is."

Gerrard revealed afterwards that Kemar Roofe would require a scan on his calf injury, meaning he could be out of action in the "short term".

He told Rangers TV: "He's been sent for a scan. We originally thought it might have been a bit of tightness in his calf. He thought it was tightness.

"On assessment it was looking that way, but something showed up so he's going to be missing in the short-term."
