Che Adams injury: Southampton dealt concern ahead of relegation six-pointer at West Ham

Southampton have been a dealt blow ahead of next week’s relegation six-pointer away at West Ham.

While Saints sit bottom of the Premier League, the appointment of Ruben Selles as first-team manager has given the team a new lease of life.

During one of the tightest relegation battles in recent history, Saints have taken points off Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham following the sacking of Nathan Jones.

They travel to the London Stadium with a renewed sense of optimism and would even go above David Moyes’ side with three points in east London.

Still, striker Che Adams has now been forced to pull out of the Scotland squad for their upcoming game against Spain.

Saints’ top scorer from open play this season, the 26-year-old came off injured during Saturday’s win over Cyprus.

Heart of Midlothian forward Lawrence Shankland has been drafted in as a replacement as Southampton assess the damage done.
