Chauncey Gardner-Johnson leads Saints rookies in ‘Madden NFL 20’ rating

More and more details are being dropped about “Madden NFL 20,” the next entry in EA Sports’ long-running video game franchise. The developer recently shared ratings for rookies from every NFL team, including the New Orleans Saints.

What’s interesting is the Saints rookie rated highest: defensive back Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, formerly of the Florida Gators. Gardner-Johnson was the second player selected by the Saints this year, and with a fourth-round draft pick. Gardner-Johnson received an overall grade of 70, with his highest marks coming in speed (90), acceleration (90), and agility (85). They clearly respect his athleticism. He is the third-highest rated free safety in the entire NFL’s rookie class, and the sixth-best defensive back.

Top draft pick Erik McCoy, a center from the Texas A&M Aggies, places second-best on the initial list behind Gardner-Johnson. Slot receiver Lil’Jordan Humphrey, signed after the draft out of the Texas Longhorns program, ranks third on the team with an overall rating of 64. Here’s the rating and breakdown for every other Saints rookie featured so far, including a handful of undrafted free agents.
