Chauncey Gardner-Johnson: Florida will beat Kentucky, extend win streak to 32 games

Florida defensive back Chauncey Gardner-Johnson is just 2-0 against the Kentucky Wildcats, but knows the Gators have owned them since long before he was born.

Gardner-Johnson expects the Gators' dominance _ now stretching to nation-leading 31 straight games _ to continue when the teams meet Saturday night in the Swamp.

"It's 31, right?" he said Monday. "It'll be 32 after Saturday."

Oddmakers seem to think so, favoring the Gators by 14.5 points.

UF routed Charleston Southern, 53-6, Saturday night in the Swamp while Kentucky had to overcome four turnovers to slip by Central Michigan 35-20 at home.

But in recent seasons, the Gators-Wildcats series has not been quite as lopsided as it might appear.

UF needed triple-overtime to beat Kentucky in 2014. Last season, Luke Del Rio came off the bench to replace Feleipe Franks at quarterback to engineer a 28-27 comeback win during the final minute in Lexington.

"They play us hard every year," Gardner-Johnson said. "They coming in with a chip on their shoulder that they can beat us."

UF coach Dan Mullen said UF's winning streak has nothing to do with Saturday's outcome.

"I don't know what that has to do with the game this week," he said. "Our guys didn't have a whole lot to do with that, and neither did the guys on their team."
