Actor Dileep, an accused in the 2017 actor rape case, is found to have deleted his chat history with 12 persons on his mobile phone contacts list, the Crime Branch (CB) team said in a report submitted to the Aluva magistrate court on Monday.
The CB team is investigating a second case registered against Dileep for allegedly conspiring to endanger the lives of five police officers who investigated the rape case.
The chats include ones with a Malayalam movie actor and a serial actor. Chats with a non-resident Indian (NRI) businessman in Dubai who owns a supermarket there and is also an office-bearer of a cricket association, Dileep’s partner in running a restaurant and a social activist too were found deleted. The other missing chats include those with his actor-wife Kavya Madhavan, his brother-in-law and a cyber expert.
The CB team alleges that the chats were deleted at the behest of cyber expert Sai Shankar at Dileep’s lawyer’s office. As of now, the chat data appear difficult to retrieve. Still, we are trying to retrieve them, sources said.
Mr. Shankar was added as an accused in the conspiracy case on Monday. The investigation in the case began based on the revelations of director Balachandrakumar.
