Chatham fire injures 1: fire officials

One person was hospitalized after a fire Tuesday in Chatham on the South Side.

Authorities were called about 9:40 p.m. to the blaze in the 8000 block of South Maryland Avenue, Chicago fire officials said.

A 45-year-old man was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in serious-to-critical condition for smoke inhalation, fire said.
